Under the aegis of International Society, dancer/choreographer
Chu Ling leads workshops and gives instructions to
children and youth.
Chu
Ling, a graduate of Beijing Dance
Academy, has been distinguished by a number of high
honors and awards in China. She is a strong proponent
of Modern Chinese dance. Before coming to the States
in 1996 she was one of the principal choreographer
and dance instructor at Guangdong Theatre of Music
ad Dance in China. Her activities in the United States
included directing a dance concert in Seattle, showcasing
her work at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts,
the Kresge Auditorium of M.I.T., the Tremont Theatre
of the International society, the First Night event
at the Emerson Majestic Theatre, and selected by Dance
Umbrella as one of five choreographers of "Boston
Moves" of 1999 and 2000. She has also given talks
at Brown University, Wellesley College and Harvard
University on the current development of Chinese dance,
and conducted dance workshops at Boston University.
