The Tremont Music Series is dedicated
to presenting "creative music," our definition being
music of any culture, genre, or style, that challenges,
inspires, and enlightens the audience. Interdisciplinary
collaboration is encouraged.
The Series was kicked off by a concert
on March 3, 2001 which featured Carter/Cook/Kowald/Lamaster
Quartet with electronic musician, Keith Fullerton Whitman,
and visual symphony by Pixonik Labs. Subsequently concerts
took place on a Tuesday of each month. The Series is dedicated
to presenting "creative music," our definition being music
of any culture, genre, or style that challenges, inspires,
and enlightens the audience. Interdisciplinary collaboration
is encouraged. This began the annual music series.

Taylor Ho Bylum, Hans Peppel, Kan Vandemark, Pandelis
Karayorgis, Nate McBride, Jane Wang, Soo-Jung Kai, Scott
Sandvik, Vanessa Marris, Anita Decellis, Gary Fieldman,
Katt Hernandez, James Coleman, Chang U Choi, Jon Hindmarch,

In 2003 two seasons of workshops and concerts called
Cultural Construction I and II. Concerts were given

2003 also witnessed a new development
in our Music at Tremont program. Four groups, each representing
a distinctively different genre, were selected to be artists-in-resident
and each will give a concert each month.

The Hermes Orchestra
bridges the gap between contemporary, popular,
and classical music.
With an all-star cast of musicians, the Hermes Orchestra
performs original music containing rock anthems, pop ballads,
funk grooves, and classical counterpoint.

New World Guitar Trio
The Trio has performed across the U.S. and in
Asia and South America. They have appeared on radio
and television in numerous countries. Thomas Noren
and David Patteson are both on the faculties on several
well know Boston based and area colleges and musical
institutions. Thomas Noren is on the faculty of Longy
Conservatory and David Patterson is the guitar professor
at Gordon College as well as the All Newton Music
School. Both performers have played with several area
ensembles such as The Boston Modern Orchestra Project,
the Auros Ensemble, the Harvard From Chamber Players
and others as well as solo performances.
The trio has several archive recordings of live shows
at WGBH whose library contains the Trio's CDs.
